What is it?

RoMEO is a  searchable database of publisher's default copyright policies regarding the self-archiving of journal articles on the web and in Open Access repositories, such as DiVA.

How to use it

The database uses a colour‐coding scheme to classify publishers according to their self‐archiving policy. This shows authors whether the journal allows pre-print or post-print archiving in their copyright transfer agreements.

RoMEO Colour Archiving policy
Green Can archive pre-print and post-print or publisher's version/PDF
Blue Can archive post-print (ie final draft post-refereeing) or publisher's version/PDF
Yellow Can archive pre-print (ie pre-refereeing)
White Archiving not formally supported

Please note that the entry for each publisher also lists conditions or restrictions imposed by the publisher which govern archiving rights or activities. For instance, a green journal might have an embargo restriction attached to it.
