Citation of research data

In order for a research data set to be cited, the dataset must be provided with a linkable, persistent identifier such as a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) or an URN:NBN (Uniform Resource Name/National Bibliographic Number).

• Data sets in DiVA are assigned an URN:NBN.
• Data sets registered at SND are assigned a DOI.

Datacite is an organization that works to make the research data citable, among other things by helping data archives to assign DOI:s to their dataset.
