Fund for Open Access publishing

As a researcher at Halmstad University you may publish in an Open Access journal and get the publishing fee paid through a temporary fund for a limited number of publications per year.

The license agreement with the publisher Elsevier has not been extended for 2019, which means that the subscription cost for this year will decrease for the University Library. The money will instead be used to promote gold Open Access publications.

The offer is valid for publications in immediately open available journals listed in the DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals). Gold Open Access is published with a CC-BY license.

Corresponding author should be attached to Halmstad University (having an email address ending with @hh.se), and have stated "Halmstad University" as part of your affiliation in the article.

Contact the University Library once your article have been accepted.

Do not pay the invoice before you have been in contact with the University Library to check if you can get the publication fee paid. If you have any more questions, please contact the Library's Publishing Support.

Once the allocated funds end, the aid will cease. As it seems now, probably sometime in 2019.

Open Access in hybrid journals are not included in this offer. For publication in hybrid journals, the University currently has agreements with the publishers Taylor & Francis and Springer.

Background

During the first part of 2018, the Swedish Research Libraries subscription agreement with Elsevier ceased, as the parties could not agree on either a price model or model for open access. This means that Swedish Universities no longer have access to Elsevier journals in full text. Instead, Halmstad Univerity Library chooses to support Open Access publishing.
