What is it?

JCR is an analysis tool of citation references for evaluating journals. It measures the influence and impact of journals and subject categories by summarizing citations from science and social science journals and proceedings in the Web of Science database.

What´s it used for?

By measures as the primary Journal Impact Factor (JIF) it can be used to identify the most influential journals in different subject categories.

What is Journal Impact Factor (JIF)?

The Impact Factor of a journal is the average number of citations received per paper published in that journal during the two preceding years. For example, if a journal has an impact factor of 3 in 2015, then its papers published in 2013 and 2014 received 3 citations each on average in 2015.
